Middle school students concluded their year-long study of Gemara Perek Eilu Metziot and its focus on hashavat aveida with a classroom project which ultimately turned into a seventh and eighth grade wide competition. Based on the TV show “Shark Tank,” Kushner’s “Shtark Tank” challenged students to design a lost and found system for the school based on the Gemara that they learned this year. Class finalists presented their creative proposals to the “Shtark Tank,” Rabbi Sukenik, Rabbi Breslin and Rabbi Feit, and the winning proposal was announced. In truth, all students were winners as this capstone project served as an excellent review of the year’s material while bringing the Torah that they learned to life in a fun and practical way.
