Mazal tov to the SAR Academy Chidon HaTanach National Finalists—Shmuel Bassik, Yonatan Fromer, Amalia Gerber, Ziva Goldstein, Yakir Helfgot, Maya Martin and Itiel Wadler. These students will compete in the contest’s National Finals on April 30, at Yeshiva University with nearly 300 contestants from over 80 schools/clubs around the country. Kol hakavod to all the other SAR Academy Chidon HaTanach participants for their hard work—Aderet Bassik, Sydney Berger, Gabriella Bressman, Maya Danishefsky, Ariana Davis, Sophie Gribetz, Matan Hakimi, Ella Krausse, Aderet Lindenbaum, Evan Osband and Emanuela Perelis. A special thank you to Tehila Mermelstein for teaching and guiding the SAR Academy Chidon HaTanach Team. Nearly 20 students from grades five to eight have been working diligently to prepare for this moment by studying 75 perakim in Tanach from Shemot, Melachim Bet, Esther and Yona and taking three regional exams. To be a Chidon HaTanach participant requires immense self-motivation and dedication—kudos on this milestone. Hatzlacha rabba to the finalists in the upcoming competition!
This year marked the 10th annual International Aramit Bee in the SAR Academy Middle School. Per tradition, sixth, seventh and eightth grade each received a different Aramaic word list of 100 words. The students took an exam and two to three finalists were selected from each class to compete in the International Aramit Bee 5783. The finalists studied Aramit words from all three wordlists from each grade, totaling 300 words. During the Bee, words were selected at random for students to translate and even determine roshei teivot (acronyms). Winners received various Hebrew/English/Aramaic dictionaries and the finalists received a Gemara keyword list. Mazal tov to this year’s International Aramit Bee 5783 winners Libby Courtney (sixth grade)—1st Place, Revaya Shiller (seventh grade)—2nd Place, and Aliya Ryman (eighth grade)—3rd Place, Ayelet Sussman (eighth grade)—1st Runner Up, Clara Fraenkel (sixth grade)—2nd Runner Up. Mazal tov also to all of the finalists who participated—Sacha Adler, Ruby Borenstein, Daniela Gribetz, Ava Haehnel, Rayli Hain, Lyon Levin, Eliana Levy, Leora Mahler, Maya Martin, Jonah Prager, Eyal Sandler and Amira Zirkind. May they all grow in their Talmud studies.
