Kitah bet at JKHA completed Parshat Lech-Lecha and began Parshat Vayera in Chumash this year. To celebrate their learning, “Avraham” and “Sarah” hosted the brit milah of their beautiful new baby boy Yitzchak for the whole second grade to attend. First, kitah bet learned all about the mitzvah of brit milah from a very special guest speaker, Rabbi Eliezer Krohn, who is a mohel and performs brit milahs on many baby boys. Then, students headed to the dining hall for a delicious bagel and cream cheese breakfast. There, kitah bet was greeted by Avraham (Morah Devorah) and Sarah (Morah Elly), and they also got to meet baby Yitzchak! They heard beautiful divrei Torah from some second graders and sang some Chumash songs that they learned this year. Students also enjoyed fun Lech- Lecha themed food art activity where each student decorated a cookie with dusty sprinkles and star shaped sprinkles. The dusty sprinkles represent the dust of the earth and the star sprinkles represent the stars of the night sky to mark the promises Hashem made to Avraham that Bnei Yisrael would be so many like the dust of the earth and the stars of the sky. Finally, each student received a special goodie bag with a personalized “Mazal Tov” star trophy, a mini plush teddy bear and a ring pop (shaped like a pacifier in honor of baby Yitzchak’s brit milah).
