Two Opportunities for Free Kosher Thanksgiving Dinners Available in Teaneck

One of the best parts of Thanksgiving, in addition to spending time with family and the upcoming deals on Black Friday, is the incredible feast that closes out the day. For those still looking for a seat at a table to enjoy the American tradition, there are opportunities around Teaneck that are accepting RSVPs for a free, hot, kosher meal, and these same venues are also seeking volunteers to help out.

Elie Y. Katz, Gervonn Rice and Janice Preschel will be hosting one of the events, a free dinner at Rain (400 Cedar Lane). The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m, and those wishing to attend can RSVP by calling 201-446-1286. It will feature both kosher and non-kosher foods, though they will be kept completely separate.

The other event will take place at Thomas Jefferson Middle School (201 Fycke Lane). It will be coordinated by Angela Davis and members of the school’s staff, and will take place between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. To RSVP, call Joanne Appel, 201-833-5471 or Susan Reis, 201-833-5470 by Friday, November 17.

All are welcome to attend these events. The goal of the dinners is to be “as Thanksgiving-like as possible,” and Katz, a deputy mayor and founder of the Teaneck Food Pantry, came up with the idea after being asked by families about where they could go for the dinners. He is currently seeking volunteers and food donations for both events, which will draw an expected 150 people to the Rain location alone.

If you are interested in contributing to the dinners, whether as a food donor or volunteer, call 201-446-1286.
