MTA took second place at the Center for Initiatives in Jewish Education (CIJE) Hack-A-Thon, held on Wednesday, January 29, at Yeshiva University. The event brought together 170 students from 18 different schools, who were divided into teams and given five hours and the necessary computer hardware to develop solutions that address environmental problems. MTA’s team created a revolutionary robot that makes recycling easy and efficient. The robot recognizes the difference between non-recyclable and recyclable items, as well as the different types of recyclable items, and sorts each one into its proper receptacle accordingly. MTA’s team members were excited to use the skills they have been learning in their engineering courses to help problem solve and make a positive impact on the world.
