Last week, eighth graders participated in a program with CCSA regarding drug awareness and prevention. The students had the pleasure of hearing from Ashley Sudol of the Bergen County Prevention Coalition, Lieutenant Mike Perez and Assistant PIO Chris Rosado from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and Shana Goldhar and Yael Wielgus from Amudim Community Resources. They first learned about the brain of a middle schooler and the direct impact that drug or alcohol can have on someone, especially at such a young age. The prosecutor’s office shared various stories of things they have seen and discussed the dangers of how various substances are marketed directly towards a younger population. The program concluded with role plays of how to say no in various situations. He’Atid students were attentive and engaged and asked many thought provoking questions throughout the program.
