The Yavneh seventh graders, as part of their respect unit in Advisory, were challenged to learn the skills of empathy and gain a true understanding of the struggles of the homeless. After an inspirational presentation by Adelina Garabet from the homeless shelter in Hackensack, the seventh graders spearheaded a campaign to collect hats, gloves and scarves for the residents of the shelter.
This effort was the most successful collection Yavneh has ever had! Students then decorated gift bags for the donations and included a note from Yavneh Academy. The students were reminded of how grateful they are for all they have in their lives, and to remember those who are less fortunate.
