Members of the public are invited to a free virtual public talk on Monday March 7 at 7 p.m. about “Israel’s Moment,” which exposes the political realities that underpinned international support and opposition to Zionist aspirations in Palestine in the 1940s.
Award-winning historian Jeffrey Herf, author of “Israel’s Moment” (Cambridge University Press, 2022), will discuss the forthcoming book. His unprecedented account sheds important new light on how a Jewish state was forged in the shadow of World War II, the Holocaust and the onset of the Cold War.
Herf is the distinguished university professor of history at the University of Maryland. The virtual talk is sponsored by the Allen and Joan Bildner Center for the Study of Jewish Life at Rutgers University. Advance registration is required at www.BildnerCenter.Rutgers.edu.
