This past week was Read Across America Day. Originally a celebration of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, this day has become a day to celebrate reading. The BPY kindergarten through fifth grade students celebrated their love of literature as a school. Rabbi Zucker kicked off the assembly with one of his favorite read alouds, “Horton Hatches the Egg.” Then, Mrs. Maron introduced the school-wide Reading Buddy Extravaganza. Older students were so excited to read to younger students. They sat shoulder to shoulder as they shared their favorite books. It was amazing to hear the happy buzz of children reading to each other. The students were so intent as they listened to the magical words and the colorful illustrations. May we continue to celebrate our love of reading each day!
