Assisting in the Agunah Problem

Last year I wrote four letters concerning a 20-year agunah problem. The responses I received were not what I had hoped for and nothing really alleviated the problem. My concern is not only for the agunah herself but even more so on behalf of the many, many, many Orthodox rabbis who are unable to help her.

I was able to speak with the husband because he did not recognize my phone number. He now lives in Las Vegas and is married. We had a most productive conversation and he told me about the get he had given years ago and that is still sitting in the Beit Din Shaar Hamishpot in Spring Valley, NY. He said that there are no strings attached and no money is being demanded…I have tried to speak with this beit din but each time I call there the phone rings once then clicks off.

I have tried to share this information with the husband but each time I dial his number I receive a busy signal.

Several people have gone in person to the address of the beit din but usually the bell does not bring about an open door.

Surely something is rotten in Denmark.

Perhaps you might want to assist me? Please email me at: [email protected].
