BPY celebrated Chanukah in so many ways. There were special evening Chanukah parties galore in grades five through eight, with teachers and with the Bnot Sherut, complete with divrei Torah, candle lighting, team-building games and delicious food. On Wednesday, December 28, the Bnot Sherut ran an amazing carnival for the elementary students, and on Thursday and Friday the students in the first through eighth grades enjoyed a spirited Chanukah themed Maccabiah with activities that included a shiriyah, sports, learning and lots of fun. On Wednesday evening, at the invitation of Rabbi Grossbaum from the Paramus Chabad, the BPY choir performed at the Paramus Borough Hall candle lighting ceremony. In addition, BPY early childhood students had a great time learning how to make oil from Rabbi Grossbaum as part of the Living Legacy program. The young students thoroughly enjoyed every step of the process, from crushing the olives to lighting the Chanukiah. Finally, per BPY Chanukah tradition, candle lighting took place together each day with Rav Acoca, Rav Mechanech. It was an altogether busy and delightful Chanukah.
