A recent visit to Bluebird Farm Alpacas charmed my children, and I noticed that people of all ages—from babies to seniors—enjoyed the experience learning about and interacting with these gentle and extremely appealing and charismatic animals. A visit to the event space next door showed us the possibilities of celebrating milestones in such a lovely environment.

Bluebird Farm Alpacas, which is a retreat featuring alpacas as well as a dahlia farm in New Jersey’s Somerset Hills near Morristown, just 90 minutes from New York City, combines a charming farmhouse atmosphere with a professional event production. A two-story event space called Longview Event Barn features many windows that highlight the beauty of its surroundings, and during cocktail hours guests can even expect the resident alpacas to attend and mingle, if invited. Alpacas, which are Peruvian and extremely huggable camelids, often pose for photos with their new friends, showing off their award-winning wool hairdos. A bride’s room upstairs as well as various other event rooms can be customized to serve the needs of each client. The staff has previously hosted weddings as well as corporate and family events. Marquee tents can also be erected to increase space for guests. Generally, the event space can comfortably house 80 to 90 people.
