Bnos Aliya Visits the AMNH

This week, all students had the opportunity to visit the American Museum of Natural History, just steps from Bnos Aliya. Beyond the incredible exhibits, it was a beautiful chance for students to bond with their classmates and teachers—and to make a true Kiddush Hashem through their respectful and enthusiastic presence.

Lower Elementary Experience

Lower elementary enjoyed a fun and discovery-filled visit! The girls were especially fascinated by the Owl Butterfly, which they observed up close as it ate from an orange slice. They were amazed to learn that butterflies can actually taste with their feet!

In the Hall of Rocks and Minerals, the students marveled at dazzling gemstones and crystals, learning how these beautiful structures can grow inside rocks. They also visited the Secret World of Elephants, where they connected their museum learning to classroom studies on these gentle giants of the African grasslands and Asian forests.

Upper Elementary & Middle School Experience

Upper elementary and middle school students had an equally exciting experience. In the Hall of Gems, they explored the science and beauty behind rare stones and minerals. At the Insect Exhibit, students were intrigued by the remarkable diversity of insect life and how these creatures adapt to their environments.

A favorite stop was the Vivarium, a warm, lush room filled with colorful butterflies fluttering through the air. Students watched in awe—and some even stood very still hoping a butterfly would land on them. One highlight was a live display of chrysalis, where caterpillars were in the process of transforming into butterflies, offering a real-time look at the wonder of metamorphosis.
