This past week, BPY had the honor of welcoming distinguished guests from Israel, each bringing a unique and powerful message of unity, resilience and connection.
BPY was privileged to host Yaakov Hagoel, CEO of the World Zionist Organization, and Raphael Cohen, CEO of Har Herzl, who visited classrooms, engaged with students in Hebrew, and were deeply impressed by their fluency and awareness of current events in Israel. They were especially excited to witness the collaboration between the Bnot Sherut and Shlichim, reinforcing the deep bond between BPY and Israel.
BPY also welcomed the Amit Children’s High School basketball team, with players from across Israel competing in YU’s RED Sarachek Tournament—the most prestigious Jewish high school basketball competition in the country. Accompanied by Rav Yoav Cochav, a beloved former BPY Shaliach, the team spent meaningful time with middle school students, both in the classroom and on the court, sharing their love for the game, their commitment to teamwork during the war, and their connection to Am Yisrael.
Adding to this incredible week, IDF Chief Cantor Shay Abramson visited BPY, where the love for Eretz Yisrael, Torah and tefillah come together as one. Joined by BPY eighth grader Morris Harary and BPY’s own Chazzan David, a former IDF cantor, he led the students in an unforgettable session, strengthening their connection to Am Yisrael and davening for the safety of the soldiers and civilians in need. Deeply moved by the students’ passion and heartfelt singing, Shay expressed that BPY felt like home—a place where the essence of Israel and the power of tefillah are truly alive.
Special thanks to violinist Eliya Sinai and the Douek family for making this inspiring experience possible. A week filled with leadership, learning, sportsmanship, and song—all celebrating BPY’s unbreakable bond with Israel!
