BPY Fourth Grade Presents Heritage Fair

BPY fourth graders produced a beautiful and meaningful Heritage Fair which was a culmination of their literature and history units. The classes shared the journey they took. The unit began with the students reading the book “Sign of the Beaver,” about Native American culture and heritage. The class connected the text to their own heritage and culture. Parents and special guests were invited to take a look around the heirloom museum and the students felt the warmth, love and energy virtually. The students signed the song “Coming to America.” Thank you to parent Leah Margolin who taught the students how to use sign language to sing the song. The fourth graders showcased their respective family heirlooms with written passages explaining the meaning and history behind them. Students also researched and displayed written explanations of their Hebrew names and a fantastic cookbook including special family recipes. This event is one of the most moving and anticipated programs of the entire year, and the students’ hard work, creativity and pride in their rich family heritage and traditions is so inspiring.
