Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

On Friday, BPY students commemorated 9/11. The elementary and middle school students sported their most patriotic clothing to help spread American pride. The elementary school students participated in a schoolwide assembly. The students watched a reading of “September 12: We Knew Everything Would Be All Right” by Masterson Elementary students. They discussed how students may be confronted with difficult situations, but they can overcome the challenges. Sometimes, the continuation of daily routines lets us know that we are all right. In such situations, it is important to thank the people that help us through the difficult times. During the middle school assembly, the students heard the story of Abe Zelmanowitz who stayed with his friend who was a quadraplegic and could not get down the stairs of the north tower. The message shared with the students was the importance of caring for each other and remembering what happened. When we remember 9/11, we should not focus on the evil and hatred, rather highlight how Americans came together and helped each other. The middle school students tie-dyed red and white masks that were delivered to the Paramus Police and Fire Department. It’s important to always show hakarat hatov to the people that help take care of us!
