Bruriah Basketball Report

The Bruriah Lightning took games from Ma’ayanot and Frisch in a span of three days to head into the Chanukah break at 7-2.

Ma’ayanot scored the first eight points on its home court before Nikki Bick put Bruriah on the board to break the drought. With the score 10-2, Maayanot’s starting point guard exited the game to tend to a minor injury. With her on the bench Bruriah narrowed the gap to four by converting on steals by Allie Orgel and Bick. Maayanot’s point guard returned to the game after their timeout but the momentum had already shifted. Bruriah tied the score then went ahead for good at 20-17.

The Lightning responded to each of Maayanot’s defenses and extended the lead to double digits in the 3rd, in part due to Dani Berlin’s 3-pointers. Nechama Maryles, Michal Hyman, and Julia Landau led the defense All of Bruriah’s players saw significant playing time in its 62-44 win.

The Bruriah Lightning responded to Frisch’s opening basket with an 18-0 run and eventually headed into the locker with a 27-6 lead. The Lightning led by double digits for the remainder of this home game. The stellar defense of Tovah Weiskopf, Shira Allen, and Shira Hagler and an active offense by the entire team contributed to this 48-30 victory.

Bruriah A Team hosts Ma’ayanot on 12/27 and Bruriah B Team hosts Shaare Torah on 12/29.
