Bruriah Soccer Hits SAR 10-7

The Bruriah Lightning improved to 6-0 with a 10-7 win on the road at the SAR Beehive. Senior captain Nikki Bick scored a solo goal for the Lightning at 13:22 in the first quarter. Seniors Michal Hyman and Avigayil Wiener added three more goals from 12:19 to 8:27 before the Sting scored. Solid defense by Ally Orgel and Dani Berlin held both teams scoreless until SAR went on a spree and scored three unanswered goals within a minute. They tied the score at four in the second. Breakaway goals by Hyman and Bick gave the Lightning a 6-4 lead going into the half. The Lightning fans were mighty and rooted through a second half equal in excitement to the first. At 10:47 in the third, Bick scored another solo goal. But SAR lofted one perfectly out of goalie Rivka Gutmann’s reach to keep them within two. Wiener and SAR both scored again to close out the third period 8-6. SAR scored first in the fourth to pull within one before Bick and Hyman made a win unattainable. Defense by Sarina Karfunkle and Shira Fournier, and Gutmann’s 14 saves, staved off any rally that SAR started.
