Teaneck Says Yes to the Dresses at Mishelyne’s

Teaneck–Ever wish for a personal stylist like the celebrities have? Someone like superstar stylist Rachel Zoe, who has an impeccable eye and knows what will work for your personal style? Discerning Teaneck customers in search of world-class styling in a neighborhood store have benefitted from fashion advice from Sara Fuks, owner of Mishelyne’s Fashions, for more than 11 years. Her devoted following travels to her store from well beyond Bergen County.

Sara serves as a stylist, personal shopper and buyer. Like stylists who work with a celebrity on a regular basis, she dresses and accessorizes her clients for day wear and special occasions. Sara gets to know your taste. Like the experts on TV shows like “Say Yes to the Dress,” or “What Not to Wear!” Sara knows what looks good on you and pulls it for you so you don’t have to rummage through countless pieces on racks, and she can modify styles to suit individual preferences, body types, and age-appropriateness.

Mishelyne’s is distinctive for several reasons. Offering non-intrusive input from the owner, Mishelyne’s is committed to making every woman look her best without the judgment often displayed by jaded salespeople in elite boutiques. The inventory features a large selection with each piece personally selected by Sara, who loves everything she buys, along with specialized services for every specific need, including tznius. “We understand the nuances of the Jewish simcha,” she told JLBC. “We provide expert alterations and custom build-ups on the premises, and listen to what a customer needs. Then we fulfill that need–including shopping for the store with specific customers in mind. We really get to know our regulars and that’s why some of them have been with us for 30-40 years.”

Mishelyne’s Fashions was founded in 1965 in Washington Heights by Fuks’ mother, a popular local fashionista and designer. Finding that she shared her mom’s passion, Sara followed in her footsteps. She moved the business to Fort Lee in 1977, where it served stylish women from the greater tri-state area and then relocated to Teaneck over 11 years ago, and never forgot the importance of excellent customer service.

They moved to their current location at 885 Teaneck Road in 2005. The convenient location and store front have become a landmark, they offer an effortless shopping experience, including on- site parking. Mishelyne’s also helps with the coordination of accessories to create one-stop shopping, offering fine costume jewelry and evening bags coordinated to work with specific dresses.

One satisfied customer described Mishelyne’s as a great store for finding special event dresses and unique business/professional separates as well as dressy suits. She added: “They also have a gorgeous selection of accessories to go with the clothes so you can leave with just about all you need except shoes. The owner is the one to work with… basically a personal shopper who will gauge your shape and size and pull together three to five outfits to consider. They are a whiz at alterations and won’t let you leave without making sure the fit is perfect.”

“We carry finer gowns, sportswear, sweaters and cocktail dresses from elegant and formal styles that reflect classic, timeless style to trending and edgier looks. This is boutique stuff, not mall stuff. Although we are primarily event-oriented, we have everything including beautiful suits for the yomim tovim. We are excited to offer new Fall merchandise or simply to freshen up your wardrobe.”

Sara prides herself on going to great lengths to satisfy her customers. “We never let anyone down,” she says. “Our customers include entire families with people in teens through their 90s. That says we’re doing something right.”
