Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

Have you ever wondered why you change the clocks during the fall and spring? It is actually because during World War I the army thought it would reduce energy consumption and save fuel for the war. Daylight Saving Time was also used during World War II. In 1945, after the war ended, U.S. officials changed it to allow states and districts to continue the tradition. Everyone could choose their own start and end dates for Daylight Saving Time but it ended up in chaos.

By 1965 the state of Iowa alone had 23 different sets of Daylight Saving Time start and end dates. The Uniform Time Act of 1966 ended all the chaos by setting the same Daylight Saving Time dates. Then in 1986, President Ronald Reagan moved the Daylight Saving Time start date to the first Sunday in April. Finally, the Energy Policy Act of 2005 changed it to the second Sunday in March and moved the end date to the first Sunday in November.

Although some people do not like the changes, what is your opinion?
