Spearheaded by Rabbi Ephraim and Rebbetizin Nechamy Simon of Chabad of Teaneck, with the assistance of coordinated municipal support, the celebration attracted about 200 people outside the Teaneck municipal complex. Councilwomen Hillary Goldberg and Karen Orgen spoke; Councilman Mark Schwartz handed the torch to Teaneck educator and administrator Pedro Valdes who lit the shamash.

The Yavneh Academy Choir sang familiar and favorite Chanukah tunes, with sound and lighting engineered by Uri Abramov of Hillside. The chilly night was warmed by hot chocolate, potato latkes and sufganiyot.
