West Orange Raises Funds to Distribute Armored Vests

One Israel Fund is pleased to announce the successful culmination of the October reception hosted by Andrea and Bryan Bier of West Orange. Funds raised from the West Orange community were allocated towards armored vests for the civilian security chiefs in Judea and Samaria.

On December 30, One Israel Fund’s director of security projects, Marc Provisor, personally delivered the West Orange vests to 30 civilian security chiefs in the Samarian Regional Council Center. Under Provisor’s instruction, the vests and all attachments were assembled. The civilian security chiefs, who typically run patrols in a security vehicle, were not wearing the standard vest issued, as it constrained their movements and had not been upgraded in more than a decade. Provisor, himself a former civilian security chief, understood the shortcomings of the previous vest and sought to design one which could be worn while performing the duties of these dedicated volunteers, including driving.

When an attack occurs, the security chief is usually the first responder. Remaining safe during an attack is crucial, but these men often put lives of others before their own. Now, with a properly fitted armored vest these heroes can do their job and be protected themselves.

One Israel Fund is at the forefront of supporting the brave pioneers who live in Judea, Samaria, the Jordan Valley and the re-emerging communities of Gush Katif evacuees, to help them maintain a safe and secure life as well as helping them grow and thrive. Coordinating with community leadership, municipal and government agencies, the IDF and local security forces, One Israel Fund supports medical, recreational, educational, communal, preventive security and other social welfare needs, filling the gaps which are often conspicuously lacking in some of these areas.

Thanks to the West Orange community, and in particular, Andrea and Bryan Bier and Mady and Ethan Kra, the civilian security chiefs of Judea and Samaria are more secure today, and can better perform their roles of saving and protecting the lives of their citizens with a reduced level of risk to themselves. What better usage of donor contributions could there be than saving the lives of our brothers in our Biblical heartland!
