Jewish Home Family to Host Speaker On Advances for Parkinson’s

(Courtesy of The Jewish Home) The Jewish Home Family Parkinson’s Center is happy to welcome Dr. Elana Clar back to address the monthly lecture series and support group on May 12 at 4 p.m.

Clar is one of the most highly trained neurologists in the country for the treatment of movement disorders. After completing her residency at Georgetown University, she completed a two-year movement disorders fellowship at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center, where she obtained subspecialty training in deep brain stimulation. She treats all types of movement disorders, including Parkinson’s disease, atypical parkinsonism and essential tremor. Clar views her relationship with patients as a partnership, and she is dedicated to serving as an advocate for them. From working with insurance companies to ensure her patients’ medications are covered to researching and monitoring the newest treatment options available, she ensures that each patient receives the best care possible.

Clar will talk about the treatment of Parkinson’s disease with deep brain stimulation, covering the surgery and considerations involved in using the fast-advancing technology. She will take questions and the meeting will take place virtually.
