Heichal HaTorah ‘Million Dollar’ Mishnahthon Set for May 30

One hour, one room, 1,000 men and boys, finishing all of Shas Mishnayos and raising $1 million dollars for scholarships. Heichal HaTorah is setting the bar high on raising scholarship funds for both the high school and beis medrash programs.

Set for 10 a.m. on Monday, May 30, Heichal HaTorah will open the doors of their beis medrash for the Mishnahthon. 525 chavrusas will learn the entire Shas Mishnayos in one room, in one hour. What an incredible way to rise to the Yom Tov of Shavuos: 1050 men and boys gathered to learn all of Mishnah just a few days before Shavuos! Mishnayos learning will be followed by a siyum brunch and dancing led by Joey Newcomb, a favorite of the talmidim. The program is free to all who register, and registration is required to participate.

With Shavuos just a week away, registration is already at more than 75% capacity.

“We thought this would be a wonderful way to highlight the season of Matan Torah—gathering together over a thousand people to complete Shas Mishnayos in one hour,” explained Heichal Rosh Yeshiva and Dean Rav Aryeh Stechler. “We are so blessed that the gadol of our community, HaRav Hershel Schachter, will recite the last Mishnah of Shas.”

“Heichal is about recognizing the centrality of Torah in our lives. As we open the doors to our yeshiva and ask the community to provide scholarship funds; we want everyone to experience first-hand how inspiring Torah learning is at Heichal. Anyone who participates in the Mishnahthon will come away feeling elevated and poised to have a more special, more meaningful Shavuos and Kabbalas HaTorah,” Rav Stechler continued.

“Heichal offers a stellar general studies program, a rich student life with over 30 extra-curricular activities and personalized guidance for each student. However, the central priority is to create and encourage passionate lifelong learners of Torah, who recognize that Torah is the prism through which they view all aspects of life,” said Rav Stechler.

Discussing what is unique about Heichal’s limudei kodesh staff, Rav Stechler had this to say.

“Every rebbe is 100% committed to each talmid’s needs, in all areas of his life. This care and concern creates a special bond. Each rebbe is a first-rate talmid chacham, with so much Torah to offer the talmidim. Once talmidim appreciate how dedicated their rebbe is to them, they in turn are highly motivated to learn, accomplishing immeasurably in regard to Torah information amassed and commitment to Torah study.”

“Two thirds of the money raised will come from our 60 sponsors. However, a third of the funds will come from smaller donations given on Sunday and Monday, May 29-30. We are hoping to include over 1500 donors. While the Mishnahthon is focused on raising the funds needed for scholarships, even more so, we especially encourage coming to experience the Mishnahthon in person. There is no parallel to experiencing the Mishnahthon. There is no comparison to over 1000 people learning b’chavrusah: fathers, sons, grandfathers, grandsons, uncles, nephews, cousins and friends, learning and finishing all of Shas Mishnayos together. We know it will be exhilarating. Join us and be inspired. Let us gather together, give to the yeshiva and grow in our commitment to Torah,” urged Rav Stechler.

The tagline for the event is “Gather. Give. Grow!” Registration is free. To register to learn, sponsor, donate or view the captivating video, visit their website at www.mishnahthon.org
