(Courtesy of YIWP) Singles from throughout the tri-state area will converge on White Plains, New York on Shabbat, March 24-25. Your bashert could be among them.

The Young Orthodox Professionals’ Singles Shabbaton will take place at Young Israel of White Plains, snuggled in the bucolic hills of Westchester County. In addition to davening, catered meals, social events and guest speakers, attendees can take Shabbat afternoon strolls along the tranquil, three-mile path of the Jack Harrington Greenway. The synagogue is located a short train ride from Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan and is also easily reached from area highways.

“What better way to meet other singles and possibly find your bashert than during a delightful Shabbat in our warm, welcoming Westchester community?” asked Judy Okun, who co-chairs the event for Young Israel together with Maier Cyviak. The event is organized with the support of Rebbitzin Margie Glatt of YUConnects, and is open to Jewish singles ages 24-36.

Speakers from the fields of medicine, media and mythology were chosen to help spark lively conversations. They include:

• Daniel Remin, an editorial graphics production manager at ESPN, who in 2021 won a national Sports Emmy Award for his work on SportsCenter in the category of Best Daily Show. He speaks on “Crowdsourcing, Prayer and Connections with an Ox.”
• Mark Levenson, an award-winning writer and author of “The Hidden Saint,” a novel of Jewish fantasy. He speaks on “Uncovering The Hidden Saint: The Jewish Hero’s Journey.”
• Dr. David A. Staffenberg, a world-famous plastic surgeon who specializes in treating craniofacial disorders in children and adults. His development of a staged approach for the separation of craniopagus (Siamese) twins is the gold standard for the procedure.

The Singles Shabbaton also includes ice breaker games on Friday night and conversation facilitators at Friday dinner and Shabbat lunch. Participants may also mingle over snacks, board games and table tennis in the kiddush room. The program concludes with a Melaveh Malkeh on Saturday evening, with hot dogs and marshmallows cooked over the fire pit, with plenty of time for mingling and conversation.
