The Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy and Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School will be hosting its 67th Annual Dinner to be held on Thursday, May 14, at The Grove, in Cedar Grove, N.J.
This year’s dinner will be honoring generations of Giborim, the Jewish heroes whom JKHA/RKYHS is proud to call their own. Honorees will include members of the school community who have survived the Holocaust and who have shared their personal experiences and stories with the students through the Names Not Numbers© Program. These are the individuals who’ve paved the way for the rise of the State of Israel. It is that legacy that has been the inspiration for many JKHA and RKYHS alumni who have bravely elected to serve in the Israel Defense Forces to protect the Jewish Homeland. At this year’s dinner, JKHA/RKYHS will also pay tribute to this special group of over 45 alumni who have served or are currently serving in the IDF.
The coveted Susan H. Dworken Educational Excellence Award will be presented to JKHA Assistant Principal and 21-year veteran of JKHA, Rabbi Nachum Wachtel. R’ Wachtel has impacted the religious, spiritual, and educational lives of an immeasurable number of students over the years, allowing them to grow and develop as Torah Jews, committed to Am Yisrael and Eretz Yisrael, within the context of the modern world.
This evening of celebration is the most important fundraising event of the year for JKHA/RKYHS. It will help sustain the present, and build for our future, JKHA/RKYHS, and enable the school to continue its mission of inspiring excellence and enhancing all facets of the learning environment, as well as ensure adequate financial assistance to an ever-growing number of families. The school looks forward to celebrating with parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends of the school community.
In addition to the dinner journal this year, the L’Chaim Survivor Tribute page will provide donors with the opportunity to honor any survivors in your lives, and the Zachor Remembrance page will offer the opportunity to honor the name(s) of those dear to you who perished in the Holocaust. The Salute to the IDF page will enable donors to give a hakarat hatov to our alumni who have continued to keep the flame alive.
