Yom Hazikaron/Yom Ha’atzmaut Observed at the Union ‘Y’ with Eitan Katz

The entire community is once again invited to the YM-YWHA of Union County, 501 Green Lane, Union, on Thursday, May 12 for the annual Yom Hazikaron Ceremony and Yom Ha’atzmaut celebration. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for people to purchase an Israeli Dinner (from Jerusalem Restaurant) and shop local vendors. The ceremonies will begin at 6:30 p.m. with D’var Torahs from Rabbi Hess of Linden and Rabbi Marcus of Springfield. A program coordinated by Tehila Magenheim, Community Shlicha, will include a memorial service with a video presentation, selected readings and a presentation by a JEC Choir, under the musical direction of Mrs. Chana Solomon. After the Shofar is blown, Eitan Katz will give a Yom Ha’atzmaut performance. This program is free and open to the community thanks to support from the Halpern and Kramer families, and the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest. There will be a simultaneous children’s program with our Rishonim with stories and crafts. At the end of the evening, all will celebrate Israel’s 68th Birthday with song, dance and a large cake. Guests are all asked to bring cash for food and vendors, if they plan on shopping or eating. For more information, including directions, please access the Y website at www.uniony.org or call 908-289-8112. The event is expected to last until about 9 p.m.

The camp is located at 501 Green Lane in Union.
