YIOT Boutique Expected to Top Last Year’s Success

Teaneck—After the tremendous success of 2015’s pre-Chag boutique, representatives of the Young Israel of Teaneck Sisterhood said they have put together an even better selection of vendors and products for this year’s event. With vendors coming from Brooklyn, the Five Towns and other areas, there is definitely going to be something for everyone, according to YIOT Sisterhood vice president Deena Rosenberg.

“We put a lot of thought into which vendors we were going to invite this year,” said Rosenberg, who is also a member of the four-person boutique committee. “We wanted to curate vendors who were younger and funkier, and that seems to have really worked for us. We scoured the internet for new and trendy vendors and are very excited to share them with the community.”

With approximately 40 vendors from the tri-state area, this year’s boutique promises to offer everything from last year—and more.

“Exercise clothes is new this year,” said Rosenberg. “People in our community are really into Zumba and spin so we have great items for them.”

In addition, the boutique will offer clothing for children and adults; home goods; hostess gifts; fine and costume jewelry; modern and traditional tablecloths, kippot and tzitzit; hats; Gali wigs; hair accessories and even back-to-school items.

“The timing this year is great because it’s not only pre-Yom Tov, but also back-to-school. We will have personalized items like backpacks and lunchboxes for the kids,” Rosenberg added.

There will be a mix of the most popular vendors from last year and new vendors to ensure variety, but “we tried not to have any overlap. We have one person selling Lucite housewares, one selling tzitzit, one selling kippot—to make sure we have a wide variety for people to choose from without competition between vendors,” she continued.

The boutique committee, comprising Rosenberg, Allison Mell, Jennifer Babich and Bracha Goetz, has been hard at work on outreach for the boutique, which attracted hundreds of women last year and is expected to do the same this year.

“This is our time of year,” Rosenberg noted. “Other organizations do boutiques at other times during the year, but this has become our time. We try not to compete with them.”

Like last year, in addition to the boutique, there will be a raffle of a holiday essentials basket. The event will raise money for the sisterhood, with a percentage going to the shul.

The boutique will be held on Tuesday, August 30, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at Congregation Beth Shalom, located at 354 Maitland Avenue. Payment is by cash or check only.
