Join Team Sharsheret At The “ACS Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk” In NYC

Sharsheret, a national not-for-profit organization supporting women and families, of all Jewish backgrounds, facing breast cancer and ovarian cancer, will participate in the ACS Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on Sunday, October 20.  Last year, more than 400 women, men, and children joined Sharsheret in Central Park for the walk and family fun activities.

Each year, as goodwill partners in the fight against breast cancer, dozens of companies and families support Sharsheret’s programs and services with generous Team Sharsheret sponsorships.  “Sharsheret is thriving because of the continued dedication and commitment of so many strong supporters, both locally and nationally,” said Team Captain Ellen Kleinhaus.  “This year we are especially grateful to our Team Partner Novartis Oncology and our Team Champions, Bernstein Liebhard, Design By Flora, and the Brocade Study. We deeply appreciate all the Team members and Team sponsors who will come out in full force to walk with Team Sharsheret and enable us to provide vital support to all Jewish women and families facing breast cancer and ovarian cancer.”

About Sharsheret: Since Sharsheret’s founding in 2001, they have responded to more than 30,000 breast cancer inquiries, involved more than 2,500 peer supporters, and presented over 250 educational programs nationwide.  Sharsheret offers a continuum of care for the Jewish community – addressing the needs of those who are concerned about the risk of breast cancer in their family, those who have been diagnosed with the disease and are undergoing treatment, and those who face issues of survivorship or recurrence.  Over the past 12 years, Sharsheret has developed 12 national programs, including the Peer Support Network, connecting women newly diagnosed or at high risk of developing breast cancer one-on-one with others who share similar diagnoses and experiences; Embrace, supporting women living with advanced breast cancer; Genetics for Life, addressing hereditary breast and ovarian cancer; and Thriving Again, providing individualized support, education, and survivorship plans for young breast cancer survivors. All Sharsheret’s programs are open to all women and men.  For more information about Sharsheret, visit www.sharsheret.org or call 866-474-2774.
