Noam Names New Tanach Enrichment Coordinator – Aliza Weinberg

Paramus—To complement its strong emphasis on Tanach for all students, Yeshivat Noam has named Mrs. Aliza Weinberg as their Middle School Tanach Enrichment Coordinator. Mrs. Weinberg, a former Tanach teacher at Ramaz High School and Tanach teacher at Yeshivat Noam for the past several years, is now able to provide even further enrichment to top Tanach students.

Select seventh graders are being offered a newly launched Torah enrichment program and will meet with Mrs. Weinberg once a week during their regular Tanach class. In small groups, these students are given enriching and challenging materials to further the depth and breadth of the 7th grade curriculum.

Eighth graders are involved in an exciting new online course being offered through the Lookstein Center from Israel. Twelve of the most advanced Tanach students are participating in an online Navi course delving into themes throughout Sefer Melachim, taught by Mrs. Susan Yammer, a master teacher who moved recently from Teaneck to Israel. These students are working independently and collaboratively with students from three other yeshivot nationwide. Every other week the students participate in an international synchronous session with their ‘classmates’ and Mrs. Yammer. The response to this course has been amazing.

The newly formed 8th grade Chumash honors class is delving into themes in Sefer Vayikra and Devarim through the lens of the various Rishonim. Starting with the text and then learning Rashi, Ramban, Sforno, Chizkuni and other commentaries on Chumash, the students are being empowered to learn Chumash on a much deeper level.
