Valley Chabad Academy of Jewish Studies Presents Learning Opportunities

(Courtesy of Valley Chabad) Valley Chabad will be offering virtual learning opportunities this month in preparation for the high holidays.

1. The Power of Hope: A Pre-High Holiday Lecture:

Wednesday, September 9, at 7:30 p.m. with master storyteller and renowned speaker Rabbi Moshe Bryski, director of Chabad of the Conejo Valley in California.

Find a comfortable chair, take out your laptop, and join us on an uplifting and empowering journey that will change the way you think about the year ahead. From the micro to the macro, we seem to be confronting a new wave of worrisome and disconcerting—even depressing—turns of events. By tapping into a formula that is as old as Judaism itself, we can discover promise and opportunity within adversity. Indeed, the recognition that despair is often but an illusion while hope is a dynamic reality is what can transform life from a struggle for day-to-day survival into a journey of meaning and mission, adventure and purpose, joy and success.

2. The Shofar and It’s Meaning

Three Tuesdays: September 1, 8 and 15, at 8 p.m.

Learn insights into the shofar and the laws to properly use it in just three short sessions. Perfect if COVID-19 is keeping you home this year. Taught by Rabbi Yosef Orenstein of Valley Chabad Teen Leadership.

No charge for the classes, but registration is required. A $40 fee will include a shofar provided. This event is for all—not just teens!
