Bris Avrohom Hosts a Mezuzah Campaign Q&A

(Courtesy of Bris Avrohom) Every Thursday evening the men of Kollel Levi Yitzchok gather together to learn and inspire each other as part of the Hastening to Bring Moshiach campaign. Additionally, a series of speakers are periodically invited to speak about different topics in Halacha, Niglah and Chassidus. Kollel Levi Yitzchok is organized by Rabbi Avremy Kanelsky, Rabbi Yechiel Kalmenson and Rabbi Aryeh Lavner.

In conjunction with Bris Avrohom’s Mivtzah Mezuzah Campaign to visit 1,800 families and to install and check 7,700 mezuzahs, the Kollel organizers invited Rabbi Moshe Klein of Hasofer, a sofer for close to 50 years, to educate the men about this special mitzvah.

Rabbi Klein spoke and illustrated about the importance of a mezuzah, the qualifications requiring a mezuzah to be kosher, the differing opinions in Halacha of where and how to install a mezuzah on the doorpost, and the differing Halachic opinions on the face and form of how the actual letters are written on the parchment.

The participants eagerly asked many questions such as where and how we are obligated to install a mezuzah, as well as why multiple mezuzahs have different price ranges. Rabbi Klein elaborated and explained every answer down to the last detail, and more importantly, he underlined how the mezuzah is a special protector that protects us not just when we are at home but also when we are away.

The lecture exceeded everyone’s expectations and thus Rabbi Klein promised to return again to continue this Q&A series on the kashrus of Mivtzah Mezuzah.

If you would like a rabbi to check or install a mezuzah in your home or office, please contact Rabbi Dovid Wilansky. (For those who are unable to afford this service it can be done at no cost.) Additionally, if you would like to volunteer for in-home visits and be a part of this campaign you may also contact Rabbi Dovid Wilansky at 908-289-0770.
