No-Hassle Kosher Vacation For Outdoor Lovers

(Courtesy of KAV) Love nature and the great outdoors? Tired of planning your next vacation and schlepping kosher food? Looking for a getaway with a minyan and Shabbos accommodations? Concerned about COVID safety and prefer a small group and outdoor environment? Then look no further!

Starting Tuesday July 19, join Kosher Active Vacations (KAV) for an all-inclusive program in the Finger Lakes region, renowned for its breathtaking scenery. With an exciting itinerary created by our program’s licensed adventure guides, participants will have the opportunity to go hiking, onshore and canoe fishing, swimming and boating on lakes and ponds; activities can be adapted to varying levels of physical intensity. In addition, a tour bus will take participants to daily excursions, including a brewery/distillery, museums and other area attractions. Evening activities include bonfires, stargazing and trivia games. Geared for those ages 55 and up, the exclusive week-long program will accommodate just 30 vaccinated individuals, on a first-come, first-serve basis.

According to Craig Goldman, KAV co-founder, “KAV seeks to provide adults with a fun, active and relaxing vacation experience, while also meeting their religious needs. From kosher meals and minyanim to Shabbos and spiritual programming, KAV is an ideal getaway for the observant Jewish traveler seeking a nature-themed getaway.”

Accommodations are in the elegantly appointed 18 Vine & Carriage House and Park Inn in Hammondsport, New York. Both beautiful and historic properties are updated with modern amenities and quaint touches.

Catered by Mickey Montal of Elite Dimensions, three meals under strict kosher supervision are served daily, including an upscale Shabbos dining experience. Lunches are assembled from a buffet and then boxed to go for excursions. Dietary modifications are available for those with restrictions and allergies.

KAV is directed by Craig Goldman, of West Orange, who has more than 30 years of camping and athletic education experience in the U.S. and in Israel, and holds a master’s in health service administration. He is joined by Eliana Guralnik, of Highland Park, a special events planner, pastry chef and avid hiker.
