As an alumnus of Penn State, I receive their magazine, The Penn Stater. I was a little startled when I read the latest issue and saw that the governor of Hawaii is Josh Green, who was born and raised in Pittsburgh and graduated from Penn State. How did a nice Jewish boy from Pittsburgh become the governor of Hawaii? That makes for an interesting story.

Briefly, he received an MD degree from Penn State’s Hershey Medical School and did humanitarian service in various locales around the world including Hawaii, where he eventually settled and wound up in politics. More details can be found by visiting https://pennstatermag.com/alumni/leading-aloha..

Many of our detractors like to say that Jews run or control the world. While that may not be true, it is fair to say that Jews can often be found in positions of high authority in many unexpected places around the globe. The “Yiddishe Kop” definitely has some substance to it, and is more than just a cute expression.
