Dynamic Jewish Community Fishing Trip: Back to Fishing School for Me!

(l-r) Meital and Amalyah Zucker (Teaneck), Arnie Gottesman and grandson (Monsey), Barry and Itai Seff, Marty Roth and Robert Remin (White Plains), Shelley Rich (Brooklyn).

Our fourth Jewish Community Fishing Trip, this past Sunday, May 25, had families from Teaneck and Springfield; and Brooklyn, Monsey and White Plains. We gathered at the dock in Mamaroneck, New York for about an hour trip east in western Long Island Sound and dropped our baited lines to the bottom.

I was ready to assist along with the mates, the young duo of Amalyah Zucker, 8, and her sister Meital, 11 from Teaneck but per the headline above they landed a bunch of fish in the first minutes of the trip while I was what is called “skunked,” i.e., not bites no fish. I was able to catch up as the day went on but I think I will go for review class despite my 50 years plus more experience than they have!

Everyone on the trip went home with enough cleaned kosher fillets for the table for the next few days at least. Some used my simple “fry em” recipe for a same day delicious fish fry dinner.
