(Courtesy of BCJAC) Following up on the BCJAC article with the local election data, below are the results of the higher office elections along with per-candidate vote totals based on the data found on the clerk’s website as of Nov. 9:

 

President

Kamala Harris (Democrat): 12,947 votes (in 2020, Democrat nominee Joe Biden received 16,737 votes, 15,841 of which were by mail)

Donald Trump* (Republican): 7,937 votes (in 2020 Trump received 6,141 votes, 5,701 of which were by mail)

Jill Stein (Green): 509 votes

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (Independent): 76 votes

Other major candidates on the ballot: 83 votes combined (in 2020 all other major candidates received 214 votes total)

Note: Republican nominee Donald Trump would win the national election by receiving 312 electoral college votes (out of 538 electors) to become the 47th president. However, Kamala Harris would win the state of New Jersey receiving all 14 electoral college votes, edging out Trump by under 6%, 51.8%-46.3% as of the time of publication. In 2020, Joe Biden defeated Trump by a nearly 16% margin, 57.3%-41.4%, over 10 points more than Harris.

 

New Jersey Senator

Andy Kim* (Democrat): 12,495 votes

Curtis Bashaw (Republican): 6,306 votes

Christina Khalil (Green): 541 votes

Kenneth R. Kaplan (Libertarian): 214 votes

Other major candidates on the ballot: 110 votes

Note: Democrat nominee Andy Kim would win the district election with 155,179 votes, securing 54.27% of total votes.

House of Representatives 5th Congressional District

Josh Gottheimer* (Democrat): 15,137 votes (up 6.95% from 2020 when Gottheimer received 14,153 votes)

Mary Jo Guinchard (Republican): 4,228 votes (in 2020, Republican nominee Frank T. Pallotta received 3,796 votes)

Other major candidates on the ballot: 677 votes

Note: Democrat nominee Josh Gottheimer would win the district election with 125,169 votes, securing 59.53% of total votes.

 

County Sheriff

Anthony Cureton* (Democrat): 13,484 votes

Robert J. Kugler (Republican): 5,375 votes

*elected

Note: Democrat nominee Anthony Cureton would win the county election with 149,043 votes, securing 53.55% of total votes.

Members of the Board of County Commissioners

*Tracy Silna Zur* (Democrat): 12,370 votes

Steven A. Tanelli* (Democrat): 12,252 votes

Michael Joseph (Republican): 5,529 votes

Dave Plotkin (Republican): 5,465 votes

Isidor Farash (Independent): 273 votes

Andrew J. Meehan (Independent): 191 votes

Note: Both Democratic nominees, Steven A. Tanelli and Tracy Silna Zur, would go on to win the county polls, securing roughly 145,000 votes each, which was around 20,000 more than each of the Republican candidates.
