FCwalk & Run to Unite Community During Challenging Time

Annual event to include prayer for Israel.

(Courtesy of Friendship Circle) Get ready to walk, run, roll, or just have fun at the annual Friendship Circle Walk and Run on Sunday, October 22. Friends, supporters, and families walk and run to celebrate everyone across the community including those with special needs.

“While our thoughts, prayers and actions are fervently directed toward our brothers and sisters in Israel and the courageous soldiers of the IDF, it is important to proceed with events like the Friendship Circle walk, which serve to unite and bring people together,” said Rabbi Zalman Grossbaum, CEO of Friendship Circle and LifeTown. “As we walk in support of Friendship Circle on Sunday, we will also come together with mitzvot, song and prayer for Israel.”

FCwalk & Run is the Friendship Circle’s biggest event of the year. Funds raised support daily programs at LifeTown for children and adults with special needs, offering everything from sports and art to cooking and swimming in a unique setting that caters to their abilities and sensitivities.

Events begin early and last through the day. This year marks the second that a USA Track & Field qualifying 5K run will precede the 1-mile walk. Both events, expected to attract hundreds of runners and walkers, take place at LifeTown in Livingston and will be followed by a day of family fun and entertainment, including a carnival, that continually attracts thousands of participants, making it the largest event in the Greater MetroWest area.

“The whole community looks forward to the Friendship Circle Walk and Run every year,” said Rabbi Yisroel Rosenblum, who is coordinating the event. “Whether you are here to run, walk, or just enjoy the festivities, this is an opportunity to come out and support Friendship Circle and LifeTown and have some fun.”

Jordyn Stein, 15, from Livingston, is gearing up to do the 5k run along with the walk this year. Acknowledging that she’s never done a 5k run before, she’s oozing enthusiasm for the run and the fundraising. “I’m so excited seeing all the fundraising teams from schools around the area,” she said. “I love seeing everyone come out for the walk and the run. I just want more people to see how amazing the Friendship Circle is and the impact it has on kids’ lives!”
