Therapy Place NJ Launches Telehealth Services

The Therapy Place NJ recently announced the continued expansion of its telehealth occupational therapy and speech therapy services. The Ocean County and Middlesex County-based children’s therapy center provider has moved to a completely virtual service offering, in order to continue serving the local community and to retain its longstanding workforce during the COVID-19 lockdown.

The Therapy Place NJ provides occupational and speech therapy to children via both in-school and center-based therapy sessions. However, social distancing measures forced the company to adapt in order to continue providing vital services to families. Now, sessions are being delivered via secure Zoom video-conferencing, with therapists being able to provide the same level of care and service to over 100 families who are now accessing therapy remotely.

Despite one million New Jerseyans becoming unemployed due to COVID-19, the Therapy Place NJ has been fortunate that it could quickly transform a traditionally face-to-face service into a remote telehealth service. In doing so, the company has been able to retain all 20 of its longstanding therapists and support staff.

“We are delighted to be able to continue providing vital children’s therapy services to families across New Jersey, especially with schools being closed and many families therefore unable to access school-based therapy for their children. Equally as important is being able to retain our loyal staff during this difficult period,” said Leah Gross, director of occupational therapy at the Therapy Place NJ. “So far, the response from parents and children to our telehealth therapy sessions has been fantastic, with therapists and children adapting quickly to the new setup.”

The company now views the ability to access children’s therapy services remotely as more important than ever, after it was announced last week that schools in the state would remain closed for the rest of the academic year. And further help for parents has come in the form of insurance companies now waiving co-payment on many of their plans when it comes to accessing virtual therapy services for children.

The Therapy Place NJ offers in-school and center-based occupational therapy and speech therapy that makes a positive difference to the lives of the children we treat. Our therapists provide a full range of traditional and innovative treatments to ensure our patients reach their maximum level of movement, strength and speech. Our staff consists of occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists.
