The Show Must Go Online!

(Courtesy of Envision Theater) As fall rolls into winter and children can’t go out to play, Envision Theater is offering two exciting and creative outlets in a virtual format for children in grades 3-8. The premier educational theater company serves North Jersey, New York and Philadelphia, and specializes in providing performing arts programming for yeshivas and Jewish day schools.

“The Show Must Go Online” (open to children in grades 3-8) is an original musical that features the adventurous journey of a frazzled drama teacher who sends a video message to her students from her home office announcing that their production of Brushes With Greatness: The Dental Hygiene Musical, has been canceled! She tries to hang up, but accidentally leaves the camera running as she receives a phone call from the principal who tells her that without the musical, the drama program will be shut down.

For children in grades 5-8 looking to participate in a play, “Mirror, Mirror, A Virtual Fractured Fairy Tale” is the perfect option. Characters don’t need modern day technology in this virtual fractured fairy tale—they have magic mirrors! The Evil Queen wishes to be fairest of them all, but when her magic mirror informs her that it is Snow White who is most fair, the queen is livid!

When asked how to find the princess, her mirror mentions that Snow White has run away. To find her, the Evil Queen summons great magic: the ability to look through all the mirrors throughout the kingdom. But there’s a catch…the magic also allows everyone else’s mirrors to show them what they most wish to see. While the Evil Queen is hunting down Snow White, who’s living with the Seven Dwarfs, Beauty sees the Beast who has taken her father prisoner, and Cinderella connects with her Fairy Godmother so she can dance at the ball. Spoiler alert: all the stories end happily-ever-after!
