On December 17, Nava Shoham Solan, chairperson of IDFWO (Israel Defense Forces Widows and Orphans), spoke at Ma’ayanot. Mrs. Solan was a young married woman with two children when her husband, Major General Shoham, was killed in action. Her response to this tragedy was to dedicate her life to helping those who similarly lost spouses and parents in battle. After volunteering for several years, Ms. Solan became chairperson of IDFWO eight years ago.
