Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

Learning the Parsha each week is a very special time for Gan Prachim! In Parshat Vayakhel, Bnai Yisrael donated their gold, silver, wood, animal skins, spices, oil and precious stones to build the Mishkan. Moshe told Bnai Yisrael to work on the Mishkan every day except for Shabbat. From this we learn that Shabbat is a very important and special day for the Jewish people. Even the work for the building of the Mishkan (lighting a fire to melt the gold, sewing, kneading/baking the challah, for example) could not be done on Shabbat! Shabbat is a special day for davening, learning Torah and spending time with family. The children had a great time thinking about and sorting pictures into “what we do on Shabbat” vs “melachot-what we refrain from doing on Shabbat.”
