Twenty teachers and guidance personnel from the four Greater Metro west Day Schools gathered at JKHA/RKYHS for a workshop on Healthy Relationships and Sexuality. The presenter was Robyn Krugman, LCSW, coordinator of adolescent services at Jewish Family Service. Personnel from Golda Och Academy, Gottesman RTW Academy and JEC joined JKHA/RKYHS teachers and guidance staff to explore holding discussions of healthy and unhealthy relationships with students. Participants engaged in robust conversation and received tools that they can use in counseling their students.
“The tools we received in our workshop will be immediately implemented into our guidance and counseling program,” commented JKHA/RKYHS Assistant Principal for Guidance and Student Services Mr. Gary Berger. “This workshop gave us an excellent opportunity to reflect with our colleagues from area schools on healthy relationships in adolescents, and we can now begin to create programming within our schools to better address this important topic with our students.”
The event was part of the Quest for Teaching Excellence program sponsored by the Greater MetroWest Day School Initiative, which promotes collaborative professional development for teachers in the Greater MetroWest, NJ area day schools. The Initiative is run out of The Partnership, a department of the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest.
