The statistics alone can tell much of the story of the remarkable success of the no-budget, word-of-mouth bake sale fundraiser organized by Cindy Baruch and Minah Kamin of Edison, to benefit the Israeli charity Leket (which provides food to families of limited means) and the Middlesex County Kinderfund (established in memory of Dina Eisner):
- More than 100 bakers
- Roughly 130 baked items
- Most items sold in 90 minutes
- Over $4,500 raised!
Over 33% increase in profit over the proceeds of the prior year’s bake sale near Rosh Hashanah.

The bake sale was hosted at the Agudath Israel of Highland Park on May 29 and drew customers from a variety of shuls. It serves as a testament to the drive to do chesed, and to purchase home-made goods for good causes, by many residents of the HP/Edison community.
