HP/Edison Holds ‘Peace of Mind’ Fundraiser

Tsu Fil Duvids performs.

A true cross-section of the Highland Park/Edison/East Brunswick Jewish community came out in support of Peace of Mind Middlesex County at a coffeehouse comedy and music fundraiser on Sunday, Sept. 22 at Cong. Ahavas Achim. The event featured comedian Eli Lebowicz and TSU Fil Duvids Klezmer Ensemble. Nearly 200 people packed the social hall for an evening of friends, music and laughter. Edison’s Cheryl Amdur was excited to attend. “Peace of Mind is a great cause to support and Lebowicz is an extremely funny guy.”

Following a welcome by Highland Park/Edison Peace of Mind local committee co-chair Natalie Artel and Tehillim led by Jeremy Renna, Tsu Fil Duvids opened the evening with klezmer music from Europe and Israel. Comedian Lebowicz worked the crowd, presenting Jewish-themed humor that everyone in the room could identify with.

“Peace of Mind” is a unique program that has been developed by the Israel Center for the Treatment of Psychotrauma to provide a bridge and pathway back to civilian life for young men and women who have served for three or more years in high risk combat units in the IDF.

Donations in support of a future sponsored session can be sent to American Friends Peace of Mind, c/o Koenigson, 221 Washington Ave., Edison, 08817 or email Artel at [email protected] for more information.
