Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

What a week at the Iris and Errol Berman Early Childhood Center in Livingston! Every day the children enjoyed another Chanukah festivity with their friends. Things kicked off on Monday, the first day of Chanukah, with an in-class party. The event included special guest visitors—moms and dads who came and enjoyed some Chanukah activities such as candle-making and cookie decorating with their children.

On Tuesday, students got to spread light in the darkness as teachers turned one classroom into a glow-in-the-dark center. Kids made necklaces and bracelets that glowed in the dark. They also explored the interaction between water, oil and glow in the dark paint to create a lava lamp.

Other highlights of the week included a visit from Rabbi Yisroel Rosenblum of Living Legacy who showed how to make oil from olives, learning Chanukah songs during music class and a visit from the Hatzalah ambulance to learn about safety. IEBECC’s youngest students also enjoyed sliding into a ball pit filled with blue and white (and a few silver) balls as a way to practice their colors.
