On November 6, Israel Bonds Englewood hosted its prestigious annual reception, recognizing the exceptional contributions of five distinguished individuals from Congregation Ahavath Torah, East Hill Synagogue and Congregation Shomrei Emunah. The event, which celebrated leadership and dedication to strengthening Israel’s economic future, drew over 150 attendees and generated more than $3.4 million in investments and indications of interest in Israel Bonds.

The reception was chaired by Englewood Community Chair Esther Lerer, along with Event Chairs Mark Finkel and Dr. Ronald Strobel. Their efforts, along with the support of community leaders and participants, helped make the evening a remarkable success. The Israel Unity Award was presented to Annette and Victor Schabes of Congregation Shomrei Emunah and Arielle and Adam Benner of East Hill Synagogue, in recognition of their steadfast commitment to Israel and their communities. The Israel Bonds Dor Tikvah Award was bestowed upon Henry Glenn, a leader from Congregation Ahavath Torah and Holocaust survivor.

The honorees were celebrated by family, friends and colleagues, who gathered to honor their outstanding efforts in promoting Israel’s economic development and security. Their collective contributions underscore the vital role of community leadership in advancing Israel’s prosperity.

A highlight of the evening was the keynote address delivered by Ambassador Ofir Akunis, consul general of Israel in New York. In his remarks, Ambassador Akunis addressed the ongoing conflict in Israel, the plight of hostages and the rising challenges of antisemitism on college campuses and across the United States. His powerful words underscored the urgency of solidarity and support for Israel during this critical time.

The event not only served as a celebration of the honorees but also as a reminder of the ongoing importance of community engagement in securing the future of the State of Israel.
