(Courtesy of Westchester Day School) It takes a village to raise a child—and at Westchester Day School, that village is filled with devoted teachers and staff who nurture our students each and every day. During Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, held from May 5-9, the WDS community came together to say thank you and show hakarat hatov to the incredible educators who help our children grow in both mind and spirit.
Inspired by the theme “We’ve Traveled the World,” each day of the week transported teachers to a different destination, with special treats and thoughtful gestures waiting at every stop.
The week began on Monday with a visit to Paris—complete with a coffee cart from Caffè Aronne and fresh croissants to bring a little French flair to the morning. Tuesday took everyone to NYC with an all-American breakfast, and on Wednesday, teachers enjoyed a delicious Italian lunch with wraps and salads sponsored by WDS leadership.
On Thursday, the journey continued eastward to Japan, where staff were treated to mochi snacks and surprise gifts—adding a touch of joy and relaxation to the day. And finally, the week concluded in Israel. Just in time for Shabbat, teachers took home sweet treats and a special Teacher Appreciation booklet filled with messages of gratitude from the WDS community.
These daily moments of appreciation were more than just fun—they were a meaningful expression of our gratitude for the educators who devote themselves to our students’ success. At WDS, our teachers do more than teach curriculum. They guide, inspire, and uplift. Rooted in Torah values and a love of learning, WDS educators help our students grow into confident individuals who are academically prepared and spiritually grounded.
Kol hakavod to the WDS PTA for organizing a week filled with warmth and creativity, and thank you to every teacher and staff member who brings their heart to our school every day. We are endlessly grateful for the light you bring into our classrooms and our children’s lives.
