On Sunday, May 4, to kick off Women’s Health Month, the JCC Mid-Westchester in Scarsdale welcomed women of all ages and backgrounds for a meaningful morning of learning, discussing and connecting at its second annual Jewish Women’s Health Summit. The summit provided a safe, open space to pause, reflect and explore how our values and voices can guide us through life’s challenges, complexities and transitions as well as resources, tools and tips for self-care and strengthening resilience.

The morning began with a restorative sound bath experience led by Katy Romita of One Small Stone, a light breakfast and a health fair populated with local health and wellness organizations. Attendees then joined together for a panel discussion featuring Rebecca Soffer, bestselling author of “The Modern Loss Handbook” and cofounder of the Modern Loss Community, as the moderator. The panelists included Dr. Sara Glass (psychotherapist and author), Lauren Tetenbaum (psychotherapist, women’s empowerment advocate and author) and Dr. Margo Lederhandler (double board-certified dermatologist, Mohs surgeon and assistant professor of clinical dermatology at Weill Cornell Medicine).

After the panel discussion, there were three breakout sessions discussing topics including self-image, cosmetic surgery and societal pressures around appearance, weight and aging.
The Kensington Senior Living was the presenting sponsor of the event. If you would like to learn more about the JCCMW and its programs, visit jccmw.org.
