JEC marked erev Rosh Chodesh Nisan with a great pre-Pesach late night learning program. The night started off with a taste of Shabbos as each student got a hot and delicious bowl of cholent. Then the intense learning began. Each student received their own Haggadah with a section included to take their own notes. They then went to three separate sessions given by Rabbi Sauber, Rabbi Ginsburg and Rabbi Rich filled with divrei Torah on the Haggadah. “The preparation for the Seder was awesome,” said Jake Goldberg. “I just hope everyone remembers to clean off the Haggadah before the Seder.”

After more than an hour of learning the students feasted on an all-you-can-eat Chickies buffet. “I love Chickies,” said Netanel Schmutter. “JEC always comes through with great food!” Chavruta learning in the Silverstein Beit Midrash followed as the boys learned through a source packet, prepared by Rabbi Malitzky, on the topic, “Why there is no bracha on saying the story of Yetziyat Mitzrayim.” The kol Torah was booming as the boys spent 30 minutes shteiging away! Rabbi Malitzky followed it up with an intriguing and thought-provoking shiur, filled with student participation.
