JEC Lower School Celebrates Thanksgiving

The JEC Lower School students prepared for Thanksgiving with a variety of activities and programs. The Early Childhood students decorated doughnuts to look like turkeys, participated in a Thanksgiving feast and parade, and enjoyed a turkey scavenger hunt. The first and second graders enjoyed a Thanksgiving themed round robin. The children participated in a STEAM activity, a story and reader response, decorated a Modeh Ani plaque and reflected on that which they were thankful for—and also did a Thanksgiving science experiment. The upper elementary students made Turkey glyphs, learned Thanksgiving facts and did a Crack the Code follow up activity, showing hakarat hatov in two creative writing activities that displayed their thankfulness. JEC continues to step up students’ midot this year and the preparations for Thanksgiving followed this important message.
